Going on a mini-trip this week to Palm Springs and San Diego! Super excited to a) see a great friend of mine b) roadtrip around CA and c) see the San Diego Zoo for the first time. I’ve always been a light packer, rarely bringing more than one bag anywhere I go. The key is to pack versatile pieces that you can mix-n-match so you won’t have to worry about repeating outfits.
After leaving work this afternoon, my co-worker and I should hit the Santa Monica Promenade for some last minute things I needed. We visited Forever 21 first (since I’m on a budget) with a mission to get some white pants & a swim suit top to match my new American Apparel bottoms. Only $50 later, I left with some amazing pale pink pants, seafoam green shorts and a beautiful purple linen-blend jacket. Great finds, although my actual “mission” was unaccomplished.
We went from Forever to the thrift store Crossroads Trading Company on 4th and Broadway. I’ve had really great luck there before (scored some vintage Charles David cognac boots for $18) and, yet again, left with a couple unbelievable pieces. As soon as I walked in I came across a beautiful pair of Pedro Garcia look alikes by Nine West. They’re olive green, my current favorite color to rock. I also scored a pair of sky blue Adriano Goldschmied jeans brand new with tags (originally $188) for $15! Apparently the color is hard to find too, I can’t find them anywhere online. Here are my beautiful (and comfy!) sandals. They’ll go with everything!
As you might tell, this spring is about color, color, color. Personally, I’m gravitating towards pale, sorbet shades, however bolder colors are everywhere as well. Color blocking can be seen at Gucci, Diane Von Furstenburg, Jil Sander, and Proenza Schouler.

Back to the trip, I’m going for four days and three nights, which is just short enough to be able to pack one medium bag along with my large tote. Since the destinations I’m heading to are warm, I’m only bringing one pair of pants, my new AG jeans. I have a long, casual plaid/tiedye dress that’ll be perfect for transitioning from day to night. My new green shorts are a must. As well as a couple white/beige loose fitting tops that would match everything. My green heels and my nude flats will suffice for shoes, but since we’ll be going on a boat I HAVE to bring my neon blue Sperry’s as well ;)
A toiletry bag, my camera and a couple pairs of pjs and I’m all set! Have a good week everyone! Be back on Friday with a followup :) And to let you know what I forgot..
