7SV – seventh street vintage

Hi guys! Some of you know about the new endeavor I’ve been working on, but for those who don’t, over the last 6 months I have been gathering a collection of fine vintage pieces from thrift stores around the country. I’ve put them together and am exhibiting them in my loft apartment in downtown LA. I’m calling it “seventh street vintage” or simply “7SV.” For those who don’t live in LA, you will able to shop my website: seventhstreetvintage.com {COMING SOON}. I do appointments for those in LA who are able to swing by and shop the collection in person. I also do personal shopping. Say you’re looking for rustic, vintage cowboy boots. I’m your girl. Say you’re looking for punk-y, 80’s inspired street wear. I’m your girl once again! Email me at seventhstreetvintage@gmail.com with any questions/inquiries.

So a few things:

1) if you’re in LA, call/text 323.374.3350 if you’d like to set up a time to view the collection.

2) if you have vintage of your own, email seventhstreetvintage@gmail.com with pictures, and I will get back to you about purchasing your goods. {the goal is the develop my collection into even better quality!}

Trends to Note:

*Colors are becoming more subtle. Pale shades, neutrals + pastels. See: McQueen + Blugirl

*Bold colors are still prevalent, in shades of yellow, green and red.

*Try mixing a pastel with a bold color. See: Prada

*Bold prints can still be found; mix with neutrals.

*Large floral prints are everywhere {still}.

*Neons are also huge. Pair them with black, white or nude. See: CNC Costume National, Iceberg + Gucci

*Pleating: huge, still. Can be seen on skirts + tops.

*Prints-on-prints are slowly dying out for women {yet not for men}. Instead both pieces arematching or with slightly different shades/patterns. See: Louis Vuitton

*Anything from Chloé.

*Short shorts with a high waist. See: Jason Wu

*Crop tops should be worn with anything that has a high waist.

*Sporty jackets of either neon or white/black.  See: Mulberry + Alexander Wang

*Surprisingly, sheer fabrics are still extremely prevalent. See: John Galliano {as well as literally every other collection}

*Skirts can be worn at any length.

*Anything from Tracy Reese.

{if you made it this far, fellas, take a look at my Spring Inspiration for men.}

Inspiration: Menswear Spring 2012

Guys, you have no idea how many skirts and see-through tank tops I had to dig through to find these gems. Men’s fashion is not too far from women’s these days, borrowing many trends that women have been wearing for years.  This season, most importantly, men should realize that they need to GO FOR IT. Wear those red pants. Rock that crazy print, maybe even under another crazy print. That yellow is not too bright. Yes, those purple pants are for men. Many of the guys I know are afraid to take the plunge. I assure you, it doesn’t make you gay {rolls eyes} to be into fashion, in fact, it’s SEXY for a guy to take a risk with what he’s wearing. Hopefully the boys can get a little inspiration from the following Spring 2012 collections:

Big Trends to note:

~ bold prints, don’t be afraid to layer and combine different prints. Try polka dots layered over thin stripes.

~ cuffed pants {still}

~ skinny, squarish ties. Wear with everything.

~ bold-colored pants. Yellow, red, blue, orange. DON’T BE AFRAID. Cool it down with a subtle, neutral tone on top. Grey + olive green are major colors for spring as well.

~ shorts are getting shorter

~ mandals. It’s spring time, bust out the mandals. And if you’re feeling super bold pair them with neutral socks.

~ boat shoes, driving shoes and loafer-types are still cute. Same goes for shoes: think bold, printed, and unique {studs, stripes, polka dots, etc.}

~ same with sneakers, but try them with tall neutral socks

~ for the love of god, don’t be afraid of a cardigan. It should be your best friend, your go-to layering piece.

~ fitted blazers of all colors

~ anything from Iceberg

~ Kurt Cobain-esque hair is all over the runways. Straight and just passed the shoulders.

~ sporty track jackets of all colors

~ pop of neon {belt, shoes, etc}

Good luck!
